Short CV
Tobias Bürger is currently employed as a researcher at the Semantic Technology Institute (STI) Innsbruck. From 11/1998 – 04/2004 Tobias Bürger studied computer science at the University of Passau / Germany. He graduated in april 2004 with a thesis which was about visual and structural authoring of XML documents, where he introduced a presentation layer for an XML based E-Learning language on top of the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL).
Before joining STI as a full time member he has been working for 3,5 years as a research assistant and project manager at Salzburg Research in the field of digital media and part of the mobile and web based information systems group
contributing to and leading projects on a European and national level
in the area of multimedia semantics, multimedia analysis, Semantic Web
technologies and information retrieval. In early 2006 he started his PhD thesis at the University of Innsbruck which is placed somewhere in between the fields of Semantic Web - and multimedia technology research and which is supervised by Dieter Fensel (STI Innsbruck) and Siegfried Reich (Salzburg Research).
Since the beginning of 2006 he had a part-time-position at the Semantic Technology Institute Innsbruck (STI Innsbruck) (fromerly known as DERI), which he now joined full time.
